Kriska Gora Trail ventures into Slovenia's Karavanke Alps from the historic town of Trzic. The 47km route traces the Košuta ridge along the Slovenian-Austrian border, passing through traditional alpine pastures like Planina Šija and Dolga Njiva before reaching its highest point at Tolsti Vrh and descending via the Kriška Gora ridge. Shorter 19km and 11km options join the main course at lower elevations, though all distances demand respect for the alpine terrain. Aid stations are thoughtfully placed at mountain huts throughout the courses, offering refuelling spots with sweeping views of the surrounding peaks. It's a genuine mountain experience that rewards runners with the kind of scenery and atmosphere that makes Slovenian trail running special.
