Vesuvio Ultra Marathon

Set in Vesuvius National Park, this event takes runners through volcanic landscapes rich with history. The courses climb to the crater's edge before descending into Valle dell'Inferno, then wind through ancient trails where Spartacus once evaded Roman forces. Runners traverse the wooded slopes of Mount Somma with its distinctive cognoli peaks. The race starts and finishes at Castello Mediceo in Ottaviano, a medieval fortress that once belonged to the Medici family. Four distances cater to different abilities, from a 12km introduction to the terrain up to the challenging 65km ultra that explores the full mountain range.
