The Beast of Llangattock lives up to its name, offering a proper mountain challenge in the heart of the Brecon Beacons. Starting from Park Farm near Crickhowell, the course weaves through varied Welsh terrain — canal towpaths give way to open moorland, ancient trails climb onto exposed ridges, and technical descents demand full concentration. The views are remarkable: the Black Mountains stretch across the horizon, Sugar Loaf stands proud in the distance, and the dramatic escarpments of Craig y Cilau provide a stunning backdrop. Four distances cater to different ambitions, from a 10km introduction to the terrain up to the full 32-mile ultra. Well-stocked aid stations and enthusiastic local support help runners through the tougher sections. This event captures the raw beauty and challenge of Welsh mountain running at its finest.
