Set in Germany's smallest mountain range where three countries meet, the XTERRA O-SEE Ultra Trail takes runners through the dramatic sandstone formations of the Zittau Mountains. Starting from the spa town of Oybin, with its medieval castle ruins perched above, the event offers five distances from 16 kilometres to 100 kilometres. The courses wind through surprisingly technical terrain for such a compact area, with forest trails and rocky passages beneath the iconic Kelchstein rock formation. The 100-kilometre route climbs nearly 3,700 metres through this challenging landscape.
