Ultra X Madeira unfolds across two dramatic stages through Portugal's island of eternal spring. The 110-kilometre route begins before dawn in Machico, with runners tackling 60 kilometres on Saturday before continuing with a 50-kilometre stage from São Vicente on Sunday. With over 6,000 metres of elevation gain carved into volcanic terrain, this course demands serious mountain experience. The island's legendary levada trails and coastal paths create a challenging technical playground where Atlantic mists meet subtropical forests. Single-stage options allow runners to experience either the Saturday or Sunday route independently, though the full two-day challenge captures Madeira's complete character from sunrise starts to mountain ridgelines.
