The Linhas de Torres 100 follows Portugal's historic Lines of Torres Vedras, a vast defensive network of 152 fortifications built north of Lisbon between 1809 and 1810 to halt Napoleon's advance. Now a national monument, these military paths and earthworks form the largest unbreached defensive system ever constructed. Runners trace the ancient routes through rolling terrain, connecting historic sites across four distances. The 23km and 32km options explore sections of this landscape where military history meets trail running, while the 55km pushes deeper into the defensive line. The full 123km ultra traverses the entire network with over 4,000 metres of climbing, demanding a full day from experienced ultra runners to complete this remarkable journey through Portuguese history.
