Terra de Gigantes

Terra de Gigantes is a serious undertaking for experienced ultra runners seeking a true wilderness challenge. This 301km linear route descends from Torre, Portugal's highest peak in the Serra da Estrela mountains, all the way to the Atlantic coast at Nazaré. With 10,800 metres of elevation gain and a 74-hour time limit, runners navigate solely by GPS between designated checkpoints, carrying everything they need for self-sufficient stretches. The organisation provides transport to the start and establishes life bases along the route, but the mountain passages demand strong navigation skills, solid ultra experience, and genuine self-reliance. This is remote trail running at its most raw and demanding.
