The Ultra-Trail des Coursières marks its 25th edition in the Monts du Lyonnais with a new 163km route featuring 6,050 metres of climbing, joining distances from 12km to 105km. Set in the rolling hills between Lyon and Saint-Étienne, the event has spent two decades showcasing terrain that consistently surprises — varied trails, genuine elevation, and landscapes that feel remote despite their proximity to major cities. The atmosphere is notably welcoming, with volunteers who return year after year creating a warm presence at every aid station. Runners discover a lesser-known corner of France across distances suited to different ambitions, from accessible 12km routes to technical ultra challenges that test experience and endurance.
