Les Courses du Père Noël brings festive spirit to the trails of Les Herbiers in the Vendée region. This December event offers an impressive range of distances from 32 kilometres to 134 kilometres, making it one of the more challenging winter ultras in western France. Runners tackle rolling terrain across the Vendée countryside, where the landscape shifts between woodlands and open farmland. The 32-kilometre route climbs 771 metres, while the most demanding 134-kilometre option accumulates 2,651 metres of elevation. The timing adds a unique element — running through winter trails just before Christmas creates a special atmosphere that sets this event apart from summer ultras. With eight distance options, the event welcomes different ambitions, though the longer routes demand solid ultra experience and cold-weather preparation.
