Ultra Scotland ventures deep into the Southern Uplands, where Scotland's wild character unfolds away from the busier Highland trails. Starting from the historic St Johns Town of Dalry, this June event presents two serious undertakings: a 90km route with 2,562m of ascent, or the full 166km challenge gaining 4,613m through relentless terrain. The courses traverse remote moorland and ancient forests, with long stretches between checkpoints and weather that shifts by the hour. Rolling hills and distinctive Scottish solitude define the landscape, offering rewards that match the demands. Designed for experienced ultra runners, this is trail running at its most testing — a genuine challenge for those prepared to embrace whatever the elements deliver.
