Every hour, runners tackle a 4.2-mile loop mixing trail and tarmac, with a steady climb and a punchy ascent before opening into faster, runnable terrain. The challenge lies in the hourly restart—each lap must be completed in time, and there's no room for error. Mental resilience and smart pacing matter as much as fitness here. Runners who reach 32 miles earn an ultra medal, but the real prize goes to whoever outlasts the field.
