Trail de Ficalho

Trail de Ficalho explores the rural landscapes of southern Portugal's Alentejo region, where Vila Verde de Ficalho sits near the Spanish border. Three distances wind through rolling terrain and characteristic cork oak forests. The 16km route offers a solid introduction to the local trails with moderate climbing, while the 33km and 50km options venture deeper into the countryside, each accumulating over 1200m of elevation across rocky paths and agricultural lands. November brings cooler temperatures for running, though the Alentejo sun still warms the landscape. The routes showcase a quieter corner of Portugal, away from coastal crowds, where traditional villages and expansive views define the running experience.
