The Loop Ultra

The Loop Ultra winds through the tranquil Vyrnwy Valley in mid-Wales, where wooded hillsides meet open moorland and the river cuts through ancient countryside. This 50km route tackles 1,482 meters of climbing across technical terrain that rewards experienced runners with a proper challenge. The course explores the quieter corners of Welsh hill country, passing old stone bridges and isolated farmland before climbing into the uplands. Dolanog itself sits peacefully beside the River Vyrnwy, with its small waterfall adding to the village's charm. Lake Vyrnwy, a Victorian reservoir surrounded by forests, lies nearby for post-race recovery, while the southern edges of Snowdonia offer further exploration for those making a weekend of it.
