About this event
The Rose of the Shires Ultra traces a 54-mile loop through Northamptonshire's countryside, weaving together canal towpaths, forest trails, and quiet lanes. Designed with input from local runners, the route passes through 21 villages, Salcey Forest, and long stretches of the Grand Union Canal. Six well-stocked aid stations appear every 6–8 miles, and the course is clearly marked throughout. The relay options make it approachable for teams looking to tackle their first ultra together. As a UTMB Index Race, it also serves runners aiming to qualify for international events. The marathon distance offers a shorter but equally scenic alternative for those wanting a taste of Northamptonshire's trails.
