Linhas de Torres Running Challenge

About this event

The Linhas de Torres Running Challenge follows the historic defensive lines built during the Napoleonic Wars across the Portuguese countryside northwest of Lisbon. The 50K route winds through six municipalities, connecting ancient forts and redoubts while traversing mixed terrain of forest trails, open countryside, and occasional village roads. Shorter options include a 10K trail and 5K walk, making the event accessible to different levels. Beyond the physical challenge, runners trace the footsteps of history through landscapes that blend rural Portugal's rolling hills with tangible reminders of early 19th-century military architecture. The varied terrain and cultural backdrop create an unusual blend of trail running and heritage exploration.
