This 38-mile journey through West Dorset connects ancient hillforts across landscapes steeped in history and natural beauty. The route delivers 1,300 meters of climbing through varied terrain — woodland paths, coastal ridges, and rolling countryside — with views stretching across Lyme Bay to Portland Bill and the Jurassic Coast. Starting from Maiden Newton, runners tackle an early climb to Eggardon Hill before the course winds through charming villages and dramatic coastal sections. Regular aid stations keep energy levels steady, and the promise of tea and cake at the finish provides extra motivation for the final miles.
