Backyard Ultra

The Horizontes Backyard Ultra brings Lazarus Lake's legendary format to the rugged terrain of central Portugal. Runners complete a loop every hour, on the hour, until only one person remains. It's a test of patience and strategy as much as endurance—each lap buys a few precious minutes of rest before the bell rings again. The course winds through the landscapes around Proença-a-Nova, and as day turns to night and back again, the atmosphere grows uniquely tense and communal. Runners share the strange rhythm of running, recovering, and lining up once more, pushing through whatever conditions arrive. The event continues until the last runner standing completes a final lap alone.
