The Altmühltal-Panoramaweg ultra follows a 200-kilometre certified quality hiking trail through Bavaria's Altmühl Valley Nature Park, from Kelheim to Gunzenhausen. The route traces the meandering Altmühl River through a landscape of limestone cliffs, juniper heaths, and traditional villages, offering runners a journey through one of southern Germany's most distinctive natural regions. With 4,210 metres of climbing spread across the distance and aid stations positioned 20-25 kilometres apart, the event demands solid ultra experience and self-sufficiency in nutrition management. Entry requires completion of at least one 100-mile trail race within the past year. The well-marked course follows established hiking paths with good transport links throughout.
