The 7 Cidades Ultimate Trail takes runners through the volcanic landscapes of São Miguel Island in the Azores. The routes wind around the twin lakes of Lagoa das 7 Cidades, nestled inside a volcanic crater, and pass through lush forests and steep ridgelines with views across the Atlantic. The longest distance circles the crater's rim, while shorter options include a 25km route and a pair of 10km offerings — one for runners, one for walkers. The trails are narrow and technical in places, with the unique experience of running inside an active volcanic landscape. Four distances mean there's room for different ambitions, though the terrain keeps things challenging throughout.
