The Mljet Trail takes runners through one of Croatia's most beautiful national parks, where dense pine forests meet the sparkling Adriatic coastline. The courses wind around two saltwater lakes and pass the remarkably preserved Roman Palace, one of the finest ancient structures along the Croatian coast. Five routes suit different ambitions: from a gentle 6km through the pines to a challenging 42km that takes in the island's most dramatic viewpoints. The shorter trails (including a 4km option for kids) let newer runners enjoy the scenery without intimidation, while the longer routes test endurance with varied terrain and elevation. Running on Mljet feels surprisingly remote and peaceful despite the competitive atmosphere — the island's quiet beauty somehow makes the effort worthwhile.
