Ben Nevis Race
About this event
The Ben Nevis Race is a legendary test piece in British fell running, sending runners from Fort William up to the summit of Britain's highest mountain and back down again. The 14km route follows the classic Pony Track through 1,340m of climbing, but the seemingly straightforward profile belies a proper mountain challenge. Weather can turn fierce at any moment, and the descent demands as much nerve as the climb requires lung capacity. Entry requires completion of three qualifying hill races, ensuring a field of seasoned mountain runners who understand what they're getting into. First held in 1895, this September fixture remains one of the most respected dates in the fell racing calendar.
