About this event

The Zumaiako Flysch Trail runs along one of the Basque Coast's most striking geological features — the flysch, dramatic rock layers formed over millions of years that rise straight from the sea. Starting from the fishing village of Zumaia, the course weaves between coastal cliffs and inland forest trails, with the 22-kilometre route climbing 1,000 metres into the rugged terrain above. A 14-kilometre option offers a shorter introduction to this remarkable landscape. The terrain mixes technical coastal paths with forest running, demanding attention but rewarding it with constantly shifting views between the Cantabrian Sea and the green hills of Gipuzkoa. Runners finish overlooking the water, with the layered cliffs stretching along the shoreline.
