The X Trail Ribeira Sacra takes experienced runners through one of Spain's most dramatic wine-growing regions. The single 48-kilometre route tackles 3,125 metres of climbing through the Ribeira Sacra's steep river gorges and ancient terraced vineyards. The trail winds past Roman bridges and centuries-old monasteries perched on cliffsides, with technical descents and sustained climbs that reward solid training and mountain experience. After the finish, the post-race celebration showcases Galician food and local wines from the surrounding hillsides — a proper reward for tackling this demanding October course through Galicia's lesser-known landscapes.
