About this event

This 13km trail weaves through the spiritual heart of Subiaco, where nature and centuries of monastic history meet along ancient paths. Starting from the Aniene river, runners traverse medieval bridges and climb 800 metres to remarkable sites: the monastery of Santa Scolastica, where Italy's first movable-type book was printed in 1465, and the breathtaking Sacro Speco, carved into the cliffside where St. Benedict lived as a hermit. The route continues up to the San Biagio hermitage before descending back through terraced hillsides. While compact in distance, the terrain demands respect with technical climbs and descents through this unique corner of Lazio, about an hour east of Rome.
