Trail Lago Maggiore ventures deep into Val Grande National Park, Europe's largest wilderness area, where runners traverse terrain ranging from lakeside paths to alpine ridges. The routes wind through quiet forests and open mountainsides, with views stretching across five different lakes and the Monte Rosa massif in the distance. Four distances cater to different ambitions: a 12km introduction along lower valleys and lakeshores, a 24km route climbing into mid-mountain terrain, a challenging 38km course reaching higher elevations, and a demanding 60km journey through the park's remote high country. All routes finish along the shores of Lake Maggiore in late September, where mountain effort meets lakeside reward.
