Starting from the medieval town of Le Puy-en-Velay, this event traces portions of the legendary Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage route through France's volcanic Haute-Loire region. Runners traverse ancient forest paths and rolling hills steeped in centuries of history, with six distances ranging from a welcoming 12km option perfect for newcomers to a challenging 139km ultra. The beginner-friendly routes showcase the region's distinctive chibottes (traditional stone shepherds' huts) and offer genuine trail running without requiring mountain experience. As part of the UTMB World Series, the event brings together local atmosphere with international trail community spirit, all set against the backdrop of one of France's most storied pilgrimage landscapes.
