The Trail des Salines takes runners through the rugged terrain surrounding Céret, a charming town in the French Pyrenees known for its art scene and Catalan heritage. The 23-kilometre course climbs 1,431 metres through Mediterranean landscapes where rocky trails wind past old stone terraces and cork oak forests. The substantial elevation gain makes this a solid challenge that rewards with panoramic views of the Tech Valley and distant peaks. The mid-October timing means pleasant temperatures for climbing, and the route captures that special character of the eastern Pyrenees where mountain trails meet southern warmth.
