Nestled in the hills above Nice, the Trail des 4 Cantons reveals the quieter side of the Alpes-Maritimes through shaded forest paths and traditional hiking trails. Organised by a local hiking club with three decades of experience, the event offers two routes: a demanding 30km with 1,812 metres of climbing for seasoned runners, and a 14km option with 826 metres of elevation gain. Both courses wind almost entirely through woodland, providing natural shade and a peaceful atmosphere away from coastal crowds. The local AVDSA club coordinates every detail, from safety measures with regional firefighters to the post-race meal. Runners receive locally produced Côtes de Provence wine from Villars' own vineyard, reflecting the authentic character of this corner of southern France.
