Trail del Marrone

About this event

Set in the heart of the Emilian Apennines, Trail del Marrone winds through the chestnut-covered hills surrounding the medieval village of Castel del Rio. The event offers two autumn routes that showcase the region's namesake chestnut forests, with runners tackling rolling terrain and moderate climbs. The 11km course features 569 metres of ascent, while the 22km route ventures deeper into the valleys with 1,168 metres of climbing. Running in mid-October means catching the forests at their golden best, when chestnuts carpet the trails and the air turns crisp. The event celebrates both the landscape and the local chestnut harvest traditions that give this race its character.
