The Trail de la Passerelle ventures deep into the Montagne Noire, a rugged massif in southern France where dark forests blend with sweeping ridgeline views. The 61-kilometre route climbs nearly 3,000 metres, cresting the Pic de Nore — the range's highest point — where the landscape opens dramatically toward distant peaks and valleys. Runners tackle sustained climbs and technical descents through beech and chestnut woods, terrain that demands both fitness and focus. Organised jointly by the towns of Mazamet and Aussillon, the event brings together trail communities from across the region each September. For experienced runners seeking a long day in the mountains, the Montagne Noire offers both challenge and reward.
