Trail de La Chaussée des Géants

Set in the volcanic heart of Ardèche, the Trail de La Chaussée des Géants takes runners through landscapes shaped by ancient lava flows. The route passes towering basalt columns and crosses rugged terrain that tells the story of the region's fiery past. Runners can choose between a technical 20-kilometre course with 950 metres of climbing, or tackle the demanding 50-kilometre route featuring 2,703 metres of elevation gain. Early June brings lush greenery that contrasts strikingly with the dark volcanic rock formations. The terrain requires comfort with sustained climbs and technical footing, rewarding experienced trail runners with one of France's most geologically distinctive race settings.
