The Tour des Glaciers de la Vanoise takes runners through the remote heart of the French Alps, circling Western Europe's largest ice cap. The course weaves through dramatic alpine terrain where glaciers sprawl across high ridges and valleys drop away into wilderness. Four distances cater to different ambitions, from a challenging 15-kilometre introduction with 1,100 metres of climbing to a formidable 73-kilometre journey gaining nearly 3,800 metres. Based in the mountain village of Pralognan-la-Vanoise, this July event suits experienced trail runners ready for serious elevation and remote alpine conditions.
