Swiss Highlands Trail

Based in Gstaad, this trail reveals a side of the resort town that goes well beyond its luxury reputation. The course climbs through forests before opening onto high alpine terrain where snow-capped peaks frame mountain lakes and waterfalls cascade down hillsides. Four distances cater to different ambitions: a 15km route with 910 metres of climbing, 24km with 1,329 metres, 42km with 2,673 metres, and a serious 61km challenge with 3,587 metres of elevation gain. The varied trails showcase classic Swiss alpine landscapes, with technical sections giving way to high ridges and expansive valley views. Late September timing means stable weather and autumn colours beginning to touch the high country.
