Subasio Crossing

About this event

The Subasio Crossing takes runners across Monte Subasio, the mountain rising above Assisi in the heart of Umbria. The 29-kilometre route, with 1,440 metres of climbing, winds through ancient beech forests, over open ridgelines, and past hermitages where St. Francis once walked. Starting from the medieval hamlet of Collepino, the course alternates between technical single tracks and smoother forest paths, showcasing the region's characteristic rolling terrain and sweeping views across the Umbrian valley. The mid-May timing brings wildflowers and mild temperatures, though exposed ridges can test runners when the wind picks up. The elevation gain and technical sections make this one for those with some trail experience under their belt.
