Set in the rolling hills of Samoggia, just southwest of Bologna, the Savigno Race takes runners through the heartland of Emilia-Romagna's countryside. The terrain here is a mix of vineyard-lined trails, dirt roads, and woodland paths that wind through the region known for its prosciutto and Pignoletto wine. Spring timing means runners encounter green hills dotted with wildflowers and medieval hamlets. The course demands solid trail experience, with technical sections and sustained climbs that reward those who've put in the training. It's a proper challenge in a genuinely beautiful corner of Italy that doesn't see as many trail runners as the more famous mountain regions to the north.
