Orsières

Set in the Swiss Val d'Entremont near the Italian border, this October trail race offers three routes that showcase alpine terrain in its autumn glory. The 16-kilometre course with 942 metres of climbing and the 25-kilometre option with 1,336 metres of elevation suit runners ready for sustained mountain effort. The 52-kilometre route demands more, with over 3,200 metres of climbing that rewards experienced trail runners with sweeping views toward the Grand Combin massif. Starting from the traditional village of Orsières, the courses weave through mixed forests and open alpine pastures, where late-season colours paint the valleys and snow often dusts the higher peaks.
