The Moontrail by RCBJ sends runners into the trails around Bourgoin-Jallieu on Halloween night, turning a 36km course through the Isère countryside into something memorably atmospheric. The route climbs 1,062 metres through rolling terrain, with headlamps casting light on autumn woods and open ridges. Running after dark transforms familiar ground — shadows shift, sounds sharpen, and the autumn moon guides the way. Late October brings cooler air and the possibility of mist or clear skies, either adding to the night's character. Best suited to those comfortable navigating trails by headlamp and ready for a sustained effort.
