Monterosa Est Himalayan Trail

About this event

Set beneath the towering east face of Monte Rosa, this mountain race brings runners into the heart of the Italian Alps' Walser country. The event offers four distances, from a 13km introduction to the terrain up to a challenging 58km route with over 4,000 meters of climbing. The longest course winds through historic Walser settlements — traditional alpine villages that have shaped this region for centuries. Technical terrain and significant elevation gain make this better suited to experienced mountain runners, though the shorter distances provide a way to experience the landscape without committing to the full challenge. The Alpine Society of Macugnaga organizes the event with mountain safety as a priority.
