The Iceland Volcanic Trail Challenge is a six-stage ultra that winds through 118 kilometres of Iceland's most dramatic terrain. Starting from Reykjanesbaer, the route crosses volcanic landscapes, black sand beaches, and glacier lagoons, passing landmarks like Diamond Beach and Jökulsárlón. Runners travel from the Reykjanes Peninsula toward the Golden Circle, through country shaped by both ice and fire. With 2,160 metres of climbing spread across the stages, it's designed for experienced trail runners comfortable with technical terrain and remote conditions. The multi-day format gives time to absorb the raw beauty of Iceland's backcountry — geysers, waterfalls, and wide-open volcanic plains — at a pace that matches the scale of the landscape.
