The Grand Trail des Cadourques explores the rugged limestone plateaus and deep valleys surrounding Cahors in southwestern France. Set in the ancient Quercy region, runners traverse dramatic gorges, medieval villages, and sun-baked causses that have shaped the local landscape for millennia. The event offers five distances from an accessible 12km up to a demanding 120km ultra with over 4,000 metres of climbing. The terrain is characteristically technical, with rocky single tracks and steep ascents that reward sure-footedness. March timing means mild temperatures ideal for longer efforts, though spring weather in the region can be unpredictable. The race captures the wild, timeless character of this less-travelled corner of France, where trails wind through oak forests and past ancient stone shepherds' huts.
