The Benemerita Trail explores the hills surrounding Alfacar, a historic Granada province town known for its spring waters and proximity to Sierra de Huétor Natural Park. Runners choose between a 25km route with 1,172 metres of climbing or a challenging 42km course that racks up nearly 2,000 metres of elevation gain. Both routes wind through Mediterranean terrain where rocky trails meet oak forests, with views stretching across the Granada plains below. The early October date brings mild temperatures and autumn colours to these Andalusian hills, where natural landscapes blend with centuries of rural heritage. The terrain demands solid preparation and experience.
