Set in the Austrian Alps near Alpbach, this October event offers two mountain challenges that share a route initially before diverging at the Holzalm aid station. The shorter 12-kilometre route provides a solid alpine introduction with 640 metres of climbing, while the 14-kilometre Classic tackles the imposing Gratlspitze summit via steep climbs and rope-secured sections, gaining 1,100 metres. The ridge traverse demands focus as runners navigate technical, rocky terrain, but the reward is spectacular — a full 360-degree alpine panorama that gives the event its name. This is mountain running in its purest form, suited for those comfortable with exposed, technical alpine terrain.
