The Alicante-Santa Pola Half Marathon traces 21km of Spain's Mediterranean coastline, starting from Alicante's historic Palacio de la Ecma and winding south through a string of blue flag beaches. Runners pass through El Palmeral Park before hitting the coast at Urbanova, then follow the shoreline through Arenales del Sol and Carabassí beaches. The route stays within sight of the sea nearly the entire way, finishing at Varadero Beach in Santa Pola near the historic lighthouse. It's a flat, fast course that's earned a reputation as one of Spain's most scenic road races, though the exposed coastal terrain means sun and wind can be factors. Best suited for runners comfortable with half marathon distance.
