The Ultra-Trail Gran Vuelta Valle del Genal takes runners on a 135km journey through fifteen villages tucked into Andalusia's Genal Valley. Scheduled for mid-November, the event showcases the region's ancient chestnut forests when they're ablaze with autumn copper tones. The route weaves through rugged terrain with 6,700 meters of climbing, making it a serious undertaking reserved for experienced ultrarunners. Teams can tackle it as a relay or go solo. Beyond the physical challenge, it's a chance to experience rural southern Spain's quieter corners, where whitewashed villages dot the hillsides and centuries-old forests still thrive.
