Sandsjöbacka Trail takes runners through Sweden's winter landscapes south of Gothenburg, where the Sandsjöbacka nature reserve offers a demanding mix of technical single tracks, coastal passages near Tjolöholm Castle, dense forests, and open moorland. The signature climb up Hobo Hill is just one of many challenges across distances ranging from 31km to 180km. Winter racing means dramatic sunrises and sunsets, plus sections run entirely in darkness. The checkpoints are known for their warmth and energy, with volunteers who help create a welcoming atmosphere despite the tough conditions. It's the kind of event where both elite runners and ambitious amateurs find themselves pushing through the cold together.
