Oslo Marathon
About this event
Oslo Marathon brings over 20,000 runners to Norway's capital each September for the country's largest urban running celebration. The course follows the scenic Oslofjord waterfront, with marathon runners completing two loops along the water's edge. Four distances cater to different abilities, from the accessible 10km 'Grete' race (named for Norwegian marathon legend Grete Waitz) to the challenging 73km ultramarathon. The event has earned a reputation for strong community support and an unusually balanced field, with nearly half the participants being women. Since its relaunch in 2004, it has grown into a national institution that blends competitive racing with an inclusive celebration of running culture in one of Scandinavia's most liveable cities.
