Set in the heart of the Bavarian Alps, the Zugspitz Ultra Trail brings trail runners to Germany's highest peak region. Part of the UTMB World Series, this event weaves through alpine forests, mountain villages, and high trails around the Zugspitze massif. With seven distances from 16km to 166km, there's genuinely something for every level — the shorter Grainau Trail offers a perfect introduction to alpine running, while the longer routes challenge even seasoned ultrarunners. The scenery shifts from gentle forest paths to dramatic mountain terrain, passing through picture-perfect Bavarian villages.
