Xeskouriazo Trail

Winding through the forests of Mount Kakavos in northern Greece, this October trail event climbs from the mountain village of Megali Panagia through oak woodlands and open ridges. The 15km course tackles 628 metres of elevation, while the 25km extends to 1,236 metres, both sharing a memorable steep section that gains 400 metres in under 2 kilometres. The terrain varies from flowing forest paths to technical rocky stretches, with the final descent demanding careful footwork on narrower trails back to the village square. Views sweep across valleys and surrounding peaks, though parts of the route pass areas marked by mining activity, adding a layer of environmental awareness to the mountain experience.
