Trail Del Cinghiale ventures deep into the Tusco-Romagnolo Apennines from Palazzuolo sul Senio, where ancient footpaths wind through chestnut forests and ridge lines reveal sweeping views across central Italy. Four distances are on offer: a 19km route with 1,041m of climbing, a 34km with 1,789m, a 50km with 2,814m, and a formidable 99km ultra that tackles 5,091m of elevation. The terrain is characteristically Apennine — rolling climbs, technical descents, and quiet villages tucked into valley folds. Late October brings crisp autumn air and forests painted in copper and gold. While the 19km suits those ready to step up from road running, the longer routes demand serious mountain experience and solid vertical training.
