Tanuhegyek Trail

The Tanúhegyek Trail takes runners through one of the most scenic corners of the Balaton Upland National Park in western Hungary. The course links five distinctive monadnocks — isolated rocky hills that rise dramatically from the surrounding landscape — each offering sweeping views across Lake Balaton and the autumn-coloured highlands. November brings the possibility of early snow dusting the ridges, adding an extra dimension to the already stunning panoramas. Runners can choose between a 21km route with 832 metres of climbing or a more demanding 41km challenge with 1,471 metres of elevation gain, both exploring this geologically fascinating terrain where erosion-resistant bedrock creates a landscape unlike anywhere else around the lake.
